Neeraj Chopra demonstrated his prowess in javelin throw at the World Athletics Championships 2023 held in Budapest, Hungary. The event saw Neeraj making a remarkable start with an impressive throw of 88.77 meters, securing the top position in Group A and earning his qualification. With his first throw securing qualification, Neeraj didn’t need to make the subsequent two attempts. Notably, no other participant in his group managed to reach the qualification mark of 83.00 meters. Julian Weber from Germany secured the second position with a best throw of 82.39 meters, while India’s DP Manu secured the third spot with a throw of 81.31 meters. Overall, Manu finished sixth and successfully qualified with his best throw.
Another Indian athlete, Kishore Jena, showcased his skills in Group B with a best throw of 80.55 meters, earning him the ninth position overall and securing qualification. Arshad Nadeem from Pakistan had an outstanding performance in Group B, achieving season-best throws in all attempts and hitting the qualification mark with a final attempt of 86.79 meters.
