In the face of fierce competition from “Gadar 2,” Oh My God 2 (OMG 2) continues to thrive at the domestic box office. Following its remarkable entry into the century club, the film added another ₹12.7 crore nett to its collection on Sunday, according to initial estimates reported by Sacnilk.com. Boasting a star-studded cast including Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam in pivotal roles, OMG 2 was released on August 11, coinciding with the release of “Gadar 2,” which is on the verge of crossing the ₹400 crore milestone.

Having accumulated ₹101.61 crore nett in India within nine days, OMG 2 has now amassed a 10-day total of ₹114.31 crore nett, following Sunday’s earnings. The movie made an impressive opening at ₹10.26 crore and saw its peak collection on day 5, raking in ₹17.1 crore. Over its first week, the film garnered ₹85.05 crore nett. As it embarks on its second week, OMG 2 secured ₹6.03 crore nett on Friday, followed by ₹10.53 crore nett on Saturday, and an estimated ₹12.70 crore nett on Sunday.

In this cinematic endeavour, Akshay Kumar assumes the role of a divine messenger of Lord Shiva, while Pankaj Tripathi portrays Kanti Sharan Mudgal, an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva, and Yami Gautam plays a lawyer. The film delves into the subject of sex education. Helmed by director Amit Rai and produced by Viacom 18 Studios, Wakaoo Films, and Cape Of Good Films, OMG 2’s journey to the silver screen encountered some obstacles. It was reportedly temporarily halted by the censor board due to its sensitive theme. Nevertheless, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granted it an ‘A’ (adults only) certification for release.

In a recent development, the cast and creators of OMG 2 shared the music video for the track “Mahadeva.” Akshay Kumar took to Instagram to share the song, exclaiming, “And now, it’s time for my favourite track. Let’s go Mahadeva, Mahadeva, Mahadeva!!! Song out now.” Sung, composed, and penned by Kashh, the song features Akshay Kumar himself.

Expressing her heartfelt gratitude to the audience, Yami Gautam shared a glimpse into her personal life on Instagram. She posted an old picture of herself and her husband-filmmaker Aditya Dhar engaging in prayer to Lord Shiva and Ma Durga. Alongside the images, she conveyed her appreciation, writing, “Thank you for this overwhelming love and respect. Feeling blessed.” The snapshot captures Yami and Aditya dressed in traditional attire, partaking in a puja ceremony.
