“Gadar 2” continues to dominate the box office with remarkable success, breaking records since its release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh reported that on its eleventh day of release, the movie surpassed the lifetime earnings of “Dangal,” securing its place as the “fourth highest-grossing Hindi film” in India. On that day, the film collected an impressive sum of ₹13 crore, contributing to its total earnings of ₹388.60 crore. Taran Adarsh predicts that “Gadar 2” will soon surpass the earnings of “KGF 2.”
In a tweet, Taran Adarsh stated, “‘Gadar 2’ remains an UNSTOPPABLE FORCE, refuses to slow down on [second] Mon… Crosses lifetime biz of #Dangal… Is now the FOURTH HIGHEST GROSSING #Hindi film in #India… [Week 2] Fri 20.50 cr, Sat 31.07 cr, Sun 38.90 cr, Mon 13.50 cr. During its second weekend, “Gadar 2” had already outperformed the second-weekend earnings of the top five highest-grossing Hindi films, which include “Pathaan,” “Baahubali 2,” “KGF 2,” “Dangal,” and “Sanju.” Taran Adarsh acknowledged this feat by mentioning, “‘GADAR 2’ CREATES HISTORY, SETS NEW RECORD… #Gadar2 has DEMOLISHED the Weekend 2 [Fri to Sun] total of TOP 5 highest grossing #Hindi films by a wide margin…”
Despite receiving average reviews, “Gadar 2” continues to excel. In a review on NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee awarded the movie 2 stars out of 5, noting that the film mainly appeals to Sunny Deol fans and those who appreciate the nostalgia of Bollywood’s past extravagances.
Directed by Anil Sharma, “Gadar 2” is the sequel to the 2001 blockbuster “Gadar.” The sequel features reprised roles by Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma, playing Tara Singh, Sakeena, and Jeete, respectively. The film was released in theaters on August 11 and is in competition with Akshay Kumar’s “OMG 2” at the box office.
