Gadar 2’s Opening Day Box Office Collection: The film Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, hit the theaters on August 11 and emerged as the second-highest-grossing opener of 2023, following Shah Rukh Khan‘s Pathaan. Early estimates from Sacnilk indicate that the film garnered approximately Rs 40.10 crore on its release day.
According to Sacnilk’s assessment, the strong start at the box office hints at a successful weekend and a potentially lucrative box office journey. The film achieved an overall occupancy rate of 60.81 percent in the Hindi market on Friday. The night shows, in particular, stood out with an impressive 86 percent occupancy rate.
On the other hand, OMG 2, featuring Akshay Kumar and directed by Amit Rai, reportedly earned Rs 10.26 crore based on early estimates. This places it as the eighth highest-grossing film of the year. OMG 2 also debuted on August 11, alongside Gadar 2.
Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, marks a significant return to the silver screen after a gap of 22 years. In contrast, OMG 2 is a sequel to the film ‘Oh My God’, previously starring Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar.
Initially, trade analysts projected Gadar 2 to achieve an opening day collection ranging between Rs 30 crore and Rs 35 crore. Conversely, they anticipated OMG 2 to secure approximately Rs 80.96 lakh. However, these predictions were later revised, with OMG 2’s earnings being adjusted to Rs 7 crore.
Trade analyst Girish Johar anticipates Gadar 2 to earn around Rs 25 crore on its opening day. In contrast, he predicts that OMG 2 might earn between Rs 10 crore and Rs 15 crore on its first day.
Another trade analyst, Sumit Kadel, forecasts Gadar 2’s opening day earnings to be within the range of Rs 30 crore to Rs 35 crore. He expects its net domestic box office collection to fall between approximately Rs 120 crore and Rs 130 crore. In contrast, OMG 2’s gross box office collection is projected to be around Rs 80.96 lakh.
A report from Bollywood Hungama suggests that Gadar 2 could potentially earn around Rs 120 crore over the opening weekend, and this could further increase to Rs 175 crore during the extended weekend due to the Independence Day holiday falling on Tuesday.
Box Office India reports that the film enjoyed a successful opening on various single screens across regions like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Gujarat.
Apart from Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, Gadar 2 features a cast including Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, Luv Sinha, Simrat Kaur, Mir Sarwar, Rohit Choudhary, and Rakesh Bedi.
Pathaan remains the year’s top opener for Hindi language films, both in India and globally, according to Pinkvilla’s estimates. Gadar 2 outperformed Prabhas’ high-budget mythological epic ‘I’, which began with an opening figure of Rs 32.5 crore.
Following Pathaan are Gadar 2, Adipurush, Tu Jhooti Main Makkar, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Bholaa, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and OMG 2.
